Evangelism and Outreach in the 21st Century
By Maria Carter · 8/16/2026
Evangelism in the Calvary Chapel movement takes many forms: community service projects, homeless outreach, food pantries, prison ministry, and international missions. The dataset shows 41 churches with documented evangelism or outreach programs, from large-scale annual events to small-scale monthly initiatives. Florida churches lead with 18 documented programs, while the expanded 20-state network adds outreach in Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, and the Midwest. Common approaches include back-to-school fairs, health clinics, addiction recovery support, and youth sports leagues that build relationships before sharing Scripture. The movement avoids aggressive soul-winning tactics in favor of authentic community engagement that meets practical needs first, then introduces Jesus through verse-by-verse Bible teaching.
